Tournament Rules and Regulations

 1.         Disrespecting any of the tournament officials and marshals by any team member will result into team’s immediate game loss or disqualification.

2.        Any inappropriate acts such as cursing, shouting, disturbing, and fighting with other participants are strictly prohibited. Loss of game or disqualification from tournament will be given to violating teams based on severity of action.

3.        A marshal will serve as overseer and referee for the duration of a certain game. Comments and complaints should be addressed to the marshal. It is the marshal’s duty to relay these comments to the event officials.

4.       Event official’s decisions will be FINAL.  If the participant has any problems regarding the decision made by the referee, he/she can file a report to the organizers and it will be reviewed by the staff and referees.

5.        Teams may check their computer stations’ hardware (i.e. key board, mouse, mouse pads, and other game controllers) for any irregularities before game commences. If any irregularities arise, team requests will be given proper notice.

6.       Rules on default wins:

Any team may request for a default win under the following conditions:

          * If a team is incomplete or is absent 15 minutes after their scheduled match time*

          * If the game has been tampered with. (ex. Map hacks, disadvantageous software, etc.)

          * If a team member from opposing team is a player for other registered teams. (Substitutes included)

To request a default win you have to speak with any event official and/or marshal that will look into the case.

*Officials and/or marshals will rule on fair play, by trying to help getting in touch with the opponent and rather letting a match start late than giving a forfeit win. However the fair play ruling is not a privilege to any team, and is based solely on the organizer’s decision.

7.        Game pause rules:

Once a game commences, a player may only be allowed to leave their respective stations upon informing the marshal to pause the game. A game may only be paused 3 times as per in-game feature.

        * A game may only be paused under the following provisions:

        o    Emergencies (technical, medical, etc.)

        o    Disturbances (natural disaster, observer ruckus, etc.)

        * A player is not allowed to leave their station for more than 5 minutes. A warning will be given to the team once this provision is neglected.

8.       Save game rules:

Tournament officials require teams to save their games after specific conditions, after a given amount of time, or in case of possible technical error.

        * First saves. The first save will occur either:

        o    15 minutes after the start of the game (including hero picking)

        o    FIRST BLOOD.

        * Succeeding Saves:

        o    Saves will occur every 10 minutes after the first save

        o    The marshal has the right to request for an additional save game at any moment during the game. Such requests include:

§  A building (tower, barracks, etc.) has been destroyed

§  10 or more kills have occurred after the last save               (including Aegis charge loss)

§  A change of 5 in net kills have occurred*                            (including Aegis charge loss)

*net total difference in kills between teams

*teams pausing or saving that creates disadvantageous situations will be given a warning

9.       Disconnection rules:

        * Unintentional Disconnections/Client Crashes/Fatal Errors/Game Crashes

        o    If the disconnection occurs 15 minutes or earlier after game start, the game will be restarted. (Same heroes & hero bans – respective players)

        o    If the disconnection occurs 15 minutes after the start of the game, a save game will be loaded.

        * Intentional Disconnections

        o    Any player determined to have intentionally disconnected from the game will give an immediate loss to his/her team.

10.     Intentionally losing is strictly prohibited. Players or teams determined to do so will be disqualified from the competition

11.       Post-match complaints:

Complaints will only be entertained on the following grounds:

         * If it is determined that a team or a team member is a DOTA pro player (i.e. competes in national & international tournaments)

         * If the game has been tampered with. (ex. Map hacks, disadvantageous software, etc.)

         * If a team member from the opposing team is a player for other registered teams. (Substitutes included)

         * If it is determined that the opposing team or any of its members have violated the tournament rules & regulations and game mechanics.

12.      In the event of violation of any of the tournament’s guidelines, rules & regulations, and mechanics, teams will be either disqualified or given a warning by tournament officials and marshals.

         * Accumulation of 3 warnings = immediate game loss

         * Accumulation of 5 warnings = immediate disqualification from the tournament

13.      In the event of a situation not covered by the aforementioned rules, tournament organizers will convene and make a decision on the issue, in keeping with the spirit of a just tournament and in the interest of fairness.
